I’ve been surfing around the internet and I came across with this interesting news. A Professor from St. Louis University is using video games to teach language skills. Simon Bregni, PH.D., started playing games when he was 12 in 1975. And during his ‘20s, he noticed that playing games has affected his language learning in a positive way. And that was the inspiration he used in his research and teaching methods. He developed a language course based on gaming. The class, called Intensive Italian for Gamers, reported that two semesters worth of language acquisition over the course of a single fall semester. By the final, they were three to five points ahead of students who attended a traditional Italian course. Bregni in order to improve the vocabulary and grammar, uses games.
